The Bournemouth Marketing Meetup is an informal, friendly place for the marketers of Bournemouth and surroundings to meet, learn, and share knowledge with one another. Come in ‘listen’ not ‘sell’ mode πŸ™‚

We’re meeting in Bournemouth for the very first time (woohoo!!), and we just want to get together, say hello, have a chat, and have a nice time.

Think of this as a community event, where the focus is very much on you meeting other people in a chilled out friendly space. We’ll chat over food and drink, listen to an inspirational speaker or two, chat some more, and go home buzzing with new contacts and new ideas.

Let’s have a lovely night in the company of some amazin’ people.

Speaker: Phil Heywood, Head of Experience at Netcel
Topic: Generation is cheap, but judgement is rare β€” why AI changes creation, not creativity

Phil is Head of Experience at Netcel, a digital agency that architects human-led, AI-enabled enterprise digital experiences and products to drive the right outcomes.

Starting out 30 years ago in a bedroom business designing and building simple websites for trucking companies when the internet was still new, he now helps global charities, professional service organisations and banksβ€”amongst othersβ€”define their digital experience strategies and deliver them.

In this talk, Phil will give us a reminder that human creativity is central to getting the most out of AI. We’ll dig into;

– How AI works (a high-level overview!)
– Explaining why LLMs are so frequently confidently wrong and why we can’t trust them 100%
– What it’s good at, and what it isn’t
– What we should be using it for
– Common mistakes and misconceptions about AI
– What the human marketer/content creator’s role is now and going forwards, especially creatively
– Some practical examples of how the AI space can help content creators do more, better, faster, without the need to replace anyone.

Please let your marketing friends and colleagues know about this group too, we hope to build it into a great resource for the community over the coming months and years. Attendance will be taken at this event. If you sign up but don’t show up, this has a knock on effect on event arrangements. If it happens 3 times, you’re outta here!
