Rory Sutherland
Rory Sutherland started in 1988 as a graduate trainee at Ogilvy and since has risen through the ranks to the title of Vice-Chairman. This title is vague, quite consciously, but in effect gives Rory the freedom to explore advertising, as well as look to elevate the industry through his many speaking and writing for The Spectator and in his recent book, Alchemy.
He is also the owner of a Japanese toilet fact, which is a fun fact, but also pretty damn cool.

The best book recommendations for marketers
All marketers love reading lists. So here are The Marketing Meetup community’s recommendations for books you should be reading to become smarter.
The quick story of The Marketing Meetup
I’m the founder of The Marketing Meetup. I started the Marketing Meetup four years ago because I was a solo marketer working in a small company, I didn’t have anywhere where I could network with other marketers and I didn’t have a place where I could learn either.
Fantastic conversational marketing examples that will increase your website conversions
So, you’ve heard of conversational marketing, but would love to see it in action? Here are some of the best examples from across the web.
The Best Marketing Tools for Marketers on a Budget
There is so many amazing marketing tools out there, it’s difficult to keep up. Here is our recommended tools for marketers on a budget.
The absolute basics of marketing
New to marketing? Here’s the absolute basics
Tips for how to post and build a personal brand on LinkedIn
Linkedin is providing an incredible opportunity to build your personal brand right now. But how do you do it? Here’s our top tips.
Marketing Masterclass Two: The Manta Sleep Mask
How do you convince someone to invest in a $30 version of something otherwise available in a pound store? Here’s what I learned from my purchase experience of a manta sleep mask.
How we set up Zoom for Marketing Meetup Webinars
Zoom has become one of The Marketing Meetup’s most important bits of software.
And while we’ve all no doubt set up many a Zoom meeting for the purposes of quizzes and more, learning about how to do it for webinars wasn’t all that easy. So, we thought we’d create a (not short) video, on what the background operation of setting a Zoom webinar looks like.
A Marketing Masterclass: Son of a Tailor
Part of the reason I love running The Marketing Meetup is that I love seeing great marketing in action. As Rand Fishkin puts it, ‘marketing done well can be a noble act’, because it matches a ‘need’ to a solution, which ultimately improves someone’s life.
So when a company absolutely markets the sh*t out of me in a compelling way, I can’t help but feel like I want to 1) sit back and clap, and 2) learn as much as I can from them.
